The City of Oneida has partnered with Central New York Regional Planning and Development Board (CNY RPDB) and residents to become a member of the New York State Department of Environmental Protection Conservation Climate Smart Communities Program. The goal of the program is to identify strategies to increase energy efficiency, reduce greenhouse (GHG) emissions and increase the use of renewable resources.
To-date NY RPDB and SUNY ESF have performed a GHG inventory to determine baseline emissions. Based in the inventory, a Climate Action Plan (CAP) was prepared by CNY RPDB. The CAP was prepared with resident input to identify feasible sustainability strategies for the community and local government.
For 2015 the CAP committee is promoting the flowing strategies and projects for implementation;
