Taxable Status Day is May 1st. Assessor assesses property according to its condition and ownership as of this date.
On taxable status day all exemptions and applications must be handed in to be reflected on next years processing.
Between the third and fourth week after May 1, the Notice of Change of Assessment are sent (RPTL 510). This forms list the previous assessment, new assessment, when and where the Board of Assessment Review meets.
The Board of Assessment Review will be meeting the 2nd Tuesday in June (June 12th this year) but we are changing the meeting time to 4 PM – 8 PM. This change will be published in the Legal Ads in the newspaper too.
The final assessment roll is filed on August 1st
Persons that have been to BOAR and wish to grieve their assessment more, can go to small claims no later than 30 days after the final assessment roll is filed. To be eligible for small claims you must live in a one, two, or three family home used exclusively for residential purpose.
